The Forum and CSIRO’s Manufacturing Flagship are pleased to extend the invitation to AFA Members to join an exclusive best practice tour of the organisation’s
leading edge additive manufacturing facilities in Melbourne on the morning of Tuesday 6 October .
The Organisation’s $6 million Lab 22 Innovation Centre is due to be officially opened later in the year, but Forum members get early access to the facility’s
cutting edge additive manufacturing technologies for the design, test and development of advanced metal products.
Lab 22 is set to help lower capital investment risk by offering manufacturers unique opportunities to access and explore five processing technologies that
promise to enhance productivity and global competitiveness.
Opportunities to reduce waste, lower labor costs, speed time to market and customise product will be discussed. CSIRO’s High Performance Metal Industries
group welcomes follow up and ongoing interaction.
The tour is designed for all levels – from those accessing the technologies for the first time to manufacturers that have CAD files that can be further
developed for trial production of parts and systems.
Lab 22 offers:
• Metallic 3D printing (e.g. titanium, aluminium)
• Advanced machining for improved profitability
• Surface engineering for enhanced performance
• Laser assisted additive deposition
• Laser heat treatments.
