After a period of reconsideration the current Government has flagged only minor changes to the Illegal Logging Prohibition Regulation which passed into law last year and which commences on 30 November 2014. These minor changes will have no substantive effect on the due diligence requirements on importers of 'regulated timber products' or Australian processers of raw logs.
While many Australian regulated timber product importers and domestic processors of raw logs are well prepared for the commencement of the Regulation, a lot of importers are not. To assist these importers, and others who are getting enquiries, the Timber Development Association is organizing three training seminars in collaboration with The Forest Trust.
