The investment and commitment to deliver the very best event for the Australian furniture and furnishing industry, saw the AFA’s Event Organiser, Expertise Events attending the widely considered best furniture show in Asia last weekend. Gary Fitz-Roy flew to Singapore to spend two days at the International Furniture Fair, Singapore (IFFS) with the distinct purpose of meeting with organisers and key providers, and to apply relevant learnings to the repositioning of the Australian Furnitex connect event.
‘We took the opportunity to review some of the Australian stands as well as international stands – particularly those out of Europe’ Gary said. ‘Our purpose in visiting the event was ideas-gathering.’ Gary added.
The AFA has received significant positive feedback to the re positioning of Furnitex connect as the only industry run event, by the industry Association for the Industry in Australia.
‘Our efforts to lead the industry is a strategic one which has carefully evolved over the past two years,’ says AFA CEO, Patrizia Torelli. ‘The industry has been struggling while private providers and corporate giants have stripped the core out of one of Australia’s biggest trade shows and at the same time used it to build competing activities. Now we are in a position to take affirmative action and deliver what is best for the industry as a whole, without fear or favour,’ concludes Ms Torelli.
The Furnitex connect Hosted Buyer programme is destined to be the biggest drawcard for exhibitors and visitors alike, with top international buyers earmarked to attend.
Together with the trade and consumer combination mirrored in Singapore, the Australian event will provide exhibitors with the option to conduct market research and also sell direct to the public if they choose too, or simply refer consumers to their stockists.
‘Finally we will have a full service event for the entire industry including a national conference; knowledge hubs; design led conversations and awards that will celebrate the industry from design students to exporters of Australian products,’ says Ms Torelli. ‘The AFA driving force is to present the industry with a solution, not be part of the problem. The support of the industry has been paramount to the development of a truly exceptional offering which has been welcomed with open arms by the majority of industry leaders,’ she said.
Furnitex connect will be held from 9 - 12 th July 2015 at the Royal Exhibition Building, Carlton, Melbourne Victoria. Visit www.furnitex.com.au for further details.
