South Korean designer Seung Jin Yang has designed chairs using resin coated balloons to create these inflated seats. Using eight layers of epoxy resin
to create a rigid outer surface it takes about a week to finish each piece.
Over time the balloons surfaces lose gloss and become deflated, so they require repeated coats of thick epoxy resin to make a solid form creating an attractive,
glass like appearance.
But would you sit on them?
Yang said “Comfort is not my prior intention when I create works, they are not soft or comfortable, but they have stability when people sit on them. It
feels like plastic stools."
