Opposition Leader Bill Shorten has suggested that the Fair Work Commission is unlikely to recommend a reduction in weekend penalty rates. The FWC were
tipped to make a decision last Sunday on penalty rates in the retail and hospitality sectors soon after the federal election on 2 July 2016. Employment
Minister Michaelia Cash has noted that the FWC's review of penalty rates is being undertaken due to changes to the Fair Work Act when Shorten was the
workplace relations minister.
