The Australian Furniture Association is pleased to announce that AFA’s Education & Training Officer, Bryon Stanley, has been appointed to the Standards Australia Committee for BD-089 AS/NZS 4386 - Cabinetry in the built environment - Commercial and Domestic.

The Australian Furniture Association (AFA) represents members in the field of Design, Manufacture and Installation of Kitchens, Bathrooms and Fitted Fitments in its national coverage, therefore the appointment of Bryon to this committee is both relevant and appropriate and allows this peak industry body to provide input into the review of AS/NZS 4386.1 and AS/NZS 4386.2 standards.

Key industry groups are hopeful of the development of a revised AS/NZS 4386 (by merging former of AS/NZS 4386.1 and AS/NZS 4386.2 standards) to avoid the reliance of industry, consumers and regulators on industry knowledge of ‘accepted industry standards’ in determining the compliance of a project with suitable norms.

Bryon’s skill and knowledge as a Cabinet Maker and TAFE Professional in the delivery of the LMF32109 Certificate III in Cabinet Making (Kitchens and Bathrooms) qualification will assist his involvement in this committee and provide valuable input into compliance which affects a great proportion of AFA Members.
