The Australian Furniture Association launches Furnitex 2015 as “Furnitex Connect”.

The new look AFA show has been redesigned to advance the industry, which includes upwards of 200,000 Australians. AFA members, the entire supply chain, businesses and Industry Education providers will come together at Furnitex Connect to inspire, empower and shape the future.


The AFA is working with Expertise Events on the event which will be held from the 9th - 12th of July in the historical Royal Exhibition Buildings, Carlton, Melbourne - the design capital of Australia. The floorplan will include secure entry access only for Trade ONLY exhibitors for three days on the upper level, and a combination package of two days Trade Only, followed by two days open to the public on the lower level.


Key partners and supporters are an integral part of any successful exhibition. With the AFA’s established partnerships with international markets, educational institutions, trade associations, and Government Departments both state and federal, this event will encourage richer relationships in areas of common interest.


A specially designated “Professional Development Corner” will be a hub for professional and career development resources, networking and advice for the exhibition and the National Furniture Industry Training Conference attendees. It will also act as a meeting place for emerging (including mid-career) practitioners to provide the tools and advice for furthering a career in the industry.


Educational Institutions are encouraged to exhibit at this event to promote their courses and offer career advice to attendees. In addition to this, students can be involved with ACE – the Australian Contemporary Emerging design competition – designed to support up and coming designers. Students can present their work in a design competition which will form a feature display to promote the student and the educational facility they attend at the event. They will be invited to attend Australia Furniture Industry Awards evening on the Saturday night which recognises the entrants and winners.


The AFA believes recognising local outstanding design and talent is crucial for the Educational industry and Australian manufacturing’s long term success.


Furnitex Connect is the ONLY national peak body endorsed event. By the industry FOR the industry – UNITING THE INDUSTRY.

The NEW look event will connect the industry under one roof, in a precinct reminiscent of international furniture festivals. The re-imagined Furnitex will see attendees network with their peers, increase their professionalism through a specific industry-developed education program. The AFA will work with Manufacturing Skills Australia (MSA) to develop conference sessions aimed at upskilling the industry. MSA will ensure the program meets and exceeds the industry needs.


Attendees will stay abreast of the latest products and trends with exhibits from industry leaders that represent the entire furnishing offer, lighting, floor covering and design elements – and bustles with buyers from every home furnishing channel.

Furnitex Connect gives students of design the opportunity for idea-sharing, networking, learning and building relationships with business partners – it's where the entire industry 'CONNECTS’
