FINALIST IN – Student Designer – CREATIVE VISION – INTERIOR DESIGN
Designed By – Thaomy Pham
Registered Training Institution – Swinburne University of Technology
The indigenous team at Swinburne required us to design a space for the new indigenous centre as all universities are required to have an indigenous centre on campus. This included three spaces located in buildings TB218, AD108 and courtyard. My concept involves the dreamtime and how Indigenous people believed that the earth including the rivers, mountains, deserts and plants were made by their ancestral spirits.
These spaces were designed for Indigenous students, academic, professional and research staff and Indigenous community members including elders. They must include a multipurpose space, informed by scoping study, aligned with Swinburne’s vision and be culturally significant.
To create a space that is inviting and includes all the individual’s needs and requirements. The AD108 room has an open plan which is good for high foot traffic.
