As 2025 comes to a close, the Australian Furniture Association (AFA) celebrates a year of progress, innovation, and collaboration across the furniture industry. From sustainability milestones to safety initiatives and member support, it’s been a year of tangible achievements.

🌿 Leading on Sustainability

  • Partnership with GECA: Making eco-certification more accessible for furniture manufacturers, promoting verified sustainability across products.
  • Carbon transparency in interiors: Collaboration with Rebuilt and AFISC allows suppliers to measure product carbon impact affordably, rewarding recycled content, local manufacturing, and circular economy practices.
  • Responsible sourcing spotlight: Advocating for traceable, certified timber over unverified imports, ensuring safety and environmental compliance.

🔒 Raising Safety Standards

  • Toppling‑furniture compliance: With the new mandatory standard in effect from May, the AFA provided labels, swing-tags, and guidance to help members meet safety requirements.
  • Member support: Group-buy labelling and tailored compliance solutions ensure businesses meet regulations efficiently, reducing risk and building consumer trust.

🏛️ Empowering the Built-Environment Sector

  • Architects & Specifiers Guide: Launched to help professionals select safe, durable, and compliant furniture for commercial and institutional projects.
  • Member visibility & opportunity: Through media, directories, and grants, the AFA continues to connect members to larger projects and industry networks.

🤝 Strengthening the Community

  • Welcoming innovative members like CEMAC Technologies and VS Australia has expanded expertise and market reach across the association.
  • Events, workshops, and advocacy initiatives strengthened collaboration and shared knowledge across the industry.
