Three furniture standards have been published by Standards Australia aiming to provide the education sector with safe learning spaces for students. The Australian Furniture Association is advocating to governments procuring furniture for school builds to ensure that ‘fit for purpose’ furniture that is tested and certified to Australian Standards are the only option to ensure the safety of students. The furniture children use, both at home and at school, plays a large role in assisting healthy posture habits. With Australian children spending large amounts of time at their desks and chairs, it is important to promote appropriately designed and durable furniture for schools and their pupils.
